[ To think at the start of this whole evening she was sitting at the opposite end of how she's feeling now: ebullient with a touch of shyness. She never viewed Badou as anything more than a pest a friend but there's a shift in the air now.
His smile is absolutely infectious at this point. Faye can't stop from nearly grinning herself. And now there are goosebumps traveling up the back of her arms from the light touch to her back...
She playfully shoves him. ]
I don't know about finger-licking but... [ The combination of food dripping and drying on both their persons is probably not too appealing. However, the date-- ]... it was definitely good.
[he lets himself be shoved, weaving back a little until he closes the gap, their shadows making a nice little circle across the pavement, complete. of one idea.
freaking finally on the same page! you probably wouldn't wipe that smile off his face for anything, and hers just fuels it. another unending circle]
I think it's too late, the stench is upon us any moment now...but before we're glued together like mashed potatoes and peas. Or corn.
[who's the peas and who's the potats...we just don't know. and as reluctant as he is to end this night, it's for the best. no one wants to have a food complex from just this alone. he releases her, and sighs]
If I have to cut my hair after all this I'm gonna be pissed.
[but he says it without heat, even with that stupid smile]
That's when you go for something stylish, Badou. The bowl look has been out for decades.
[ This is when she starts picturing him with some short layers. A simple yet modern look. Nothing that would involve gel or some other substance to hold together. Free-flowing and out of his face -- yet framing it just right. She reaches forward without warning and moves a few strands of his red hair aside to help with the image in her head. It wouldn't look all that bad really....... and now she is unintentionally staring.
Her attention snaps back. ]
Thanks but long hair is just too much work. I don't know how you and Gren do it.
[again he barely dares to move, his entire world narrows down the touch of her fingers against his face, to the way she looks at him, closely. like she's looking beyond. but he doesn't feel weird about it--
alright, maybe a little shy, tips of his ears a little red. he ducks his head just a tad when the moment snaps, laughs at the thought of Gren and how this all started]
You're telling me. It can be awful, but I don't really feel like cutting it and managing it. I just let it be.
[like most of his life, when he isn't scraping by, crawling up from the bottom.]
[ Simply put. She doesn't want to start with any other adjectives that could apply here because whoa what is going on here?? She feels... well, she's feeling and it's throwing her for a spin.
Scrambling in the moment to reel herself in, she nods, flashes a small smile, and then awkwardly blurts out: ]
I should be going. I think I see flies starting to buzz around me.
[ What sounds like a nervous laugh follows before quickly dying out as she then, more seriously, tells him: ]
We should do this again... but without the whole playing with our food part. If you're into it.
[ Smiling is a really great look on you, Badou. Honestly. ]
Yeah. Okay. Great.
[ Her smile is certainly not diminishing any. And from an outside perspective, someone might even say she's stalling a little. ]
Keep in touch, okay?
[ But the desire to walk away now and wait until she's alone to unpack all of this (or just stuff it away; denial is no stranger to her) is much stronger than whatever desire lingers in her to stay. And she kind of really wouldn't mind staying.
Faye leans in to softly press her lips to his cheek, one last time if not to experience that closeness again, and then slips past him. ]
[he'll probably be standing there, dazed and giddy for another 10 minutes after she leaves. all he can do is focus on the light peck of her lips, that flash of warmth, the softness of her face, her tone.
AND HANDSOME!!!!!!!!]
Yeah. Yeah, we'll talk soon.
[HAND!!SOME!!! he has to now come up with something just as good and classy]

So...
[ Don't worry. Faye's having a little trouble containing her smile too. ]
I guess we better part ways before we start smelling like a restaurant's dumpster.
[ A nice, hot bath sounds so good right about now. ]

Hey, maybe now's the perfect opportunity for a change.
[ She winks, knowing that very sentiment is not what rests in his heart. Men and their attachment to their long hair. ]
I can't imagine you not looking great with short hair.
[ But she also can't imagine him with short hair so he better find the good stuff to get the gunk out. ]
ME, BEATING MY CHEST AND ROARING!!!!!!!!!!
The last time I had short hair it was as bad as a bowl cut. [he shakes his head, amused, for once, on the past.]
I think you'd look cute with long hair, but I'm not some ass who says 'you look better with long hair' or some dumb crap.
HEHEEHE

Buzz, buzz. And uh, yeah. I'd like to do this again. I'd like that.
[he smiles a smile that nearly splits his face. gross and embarrassed and probably kicked out of that place. this is fine.]
'buzz, buzz' i am destroyed that was so cute
