[ When Gren mentioned something about a blind date, it's safe to say that Faye's immediate reaction was a solid NO. This was a proposition he had brought up once before that she'd swiftly rejected before he could say anything more. It's but a wonder just how she let him convince her this time. And then she remembers: the man has a way with words, making him so utterly persuasive that it managed to change her no into a begrudging I guess and now here she was, sitting at a table in the center of a typical Italian restaurant, waiting for a man that Gren told her she'd "know when she sees him".

She spends the entire time sitting there, mulling over who that could be, dressed in a sleek but charming little black dress that shows off her long, shapely legs and a small hint of her cleavage but nothing else. Her hair is twisted up into a bun, and her make-up is smoldering without being unnecessarily heavy. At least she looks good.

Taking a sip of her water, she keeps an eye out for anyone that enters the place. So far, no one of any familiarity has walked in. And with a sigh, gaze lingering from the entrance a moment to stare into the white fabric of the tablecloth, she has to wonder if maybe it were Gren himself and this was just his funny way of keeping her in the dark about it.

That's when she hears the soft woosh of the door opening and it triggers her to look. As she was told, she definitely knew who that was. But this had to be a coincidence or maybe even a mistake. There's no way that Badou was her date. ]

[after the initial joking (probably joking???) about going on a date with Faye, the conversation had dropped off the face of the Earth, awash within everything else Badou has to worry about daily. Obviously Gren had been joking. That was that.

Or so Badou had thought. What he thought was some kind of business meeting (dress your best, Gren had said, you'll know when you know, he said. the fuck) was obviously the butt of the joke. Because upon entry into the ritzy place the familiar face immediately brings the joke to mind.

Some joke. Holy shit, she looks-- what the-- he's gonna kill Gren. ~~Or name his first kid after him.~~ Even in his suit, fucking TIE, hair slicked back over his face, he feels underdressed under that smoldering gaze. His feet are rooted to the spot until they aren't, until they bring him in long strides over to her table.]

[ She almost didn't recognize him right away but that was her blind date. Him. Badou. And now he's walking towards her which only further cements that fact. Her fingers tightly curl into her palms to retract the tension that was starting to build in her shoulders and she straightens in her seat.

There's a chance her face is giving away the edginess that was making her tense, skewing her attempt at a smile when he reaches the table. There seems to be mutual confusion about this whole thing at least. ]

So you're my blind date, huh?

[ You'll know when you see him. Damn it, Gren.

And though her tone doesn't carry much mirt, she does seem to be doing a lot of staring. Admittedly, he looked... good. ]

[ damn she looks....really good. scrumptious, even. holy hell!!! GREN!!! he's going to kill him or hug the hell out of him or something, Badou hasn't decided yet. all he can do is stare, blink owlishly, and repeat. when his mouth connects to his brain all he can say is:]

Wow.

[better to focus on her than on her and just how much she's going to kick his butt in a minute. he can't imagine she's happy about this]

[ Faye gets it. She knows how smokin' hot she looks. And there was a reason she dressed the way she did -- to win the heart of whatever man was lucky enough to be on this date with her and earn herself a free dinner. But that man was not the man she had expected. Did Badou even have a lot of money? He cleaned up nicely and could play the part, but.

Sadly, these are the thoughts going through her head while he stands there, gawking. ]

Well? Are you going to sit down or what?

[ Because whether either of them (or just Faye) have hang-ups over it, there was no use turning back now. It's happening. So she grabs her glass of water and takes another sip, then decides that water wasn't doing it and lifts a hand to garner the waiter's attention because now she needs a drink. ]

[like a man walking, procession, to the hangman's noose, Badou's legs stumble him right into his chair which he somehow doesn't fall all over.

He can barely take his eye off her, when the waiter does saunter, he utters, finally]

Yeah, one for me too.

[he has the feeling he's going to need it if he wants to actually make conversation. she's certainly never stumbled him this badly before but this entire situation...]

Might as well plan to kill Gren while we can.

[ Meanwhile, she's over here looking at Badou like the sorry sap that he is and if she wasn't busy feeling annoyed in the light of this situation, it was possible she's even amused by it. Compared to how they normally speak to one another, and how their dynamic made their banter teeter between playful-insulting most days, this was quite the state to see him in. ]

Don't worry about it. He'll get what's coming next time I see him.

[ And she surely means that, if not for her sour tone and her demeanor which read: huffy. It wasn't the first time Gren's put her in a situation that she had no say in.

That... man. He thinks he's so cute sometimes.

The waiter swings by and drops off their drinks. She's quick for the draw and takes a swig, tempted to down it all but, for whatever reason, refrains and sets it back down. ]

How do I know you weren't the one who put Gren up to this?

[ That's what we like to call: saddling poor ol' Badou with the blame. ]

[Badou does not refrain. He knocks back most of it, leaving only a little at the bottom of the glass. that does not make him feel better but here we are.

How am I supposed to know you didn't? That Gren isn't hiding out with a camera somewhere.

[ Well, now she doesn't feel much like refraining anymore after witnessing that, and so she knocks back the rest of her drink as well. Swallowing hard, the hand holding her glass will shoot straight up in the air out of an assumption that the waiter would see and in turn provide them refills.

So while her hand is up, she's leaning forward to match his glare. ]

Believe me, he's lucky he isn't here right now.

[ She hated the very idea of blind dates, but she was also bugged by the fact Gren had once again took it upon himself to match her with someone when she was perfectly content being on her own and he knew that.

The waiter never shows but while peering over her shoulder, Faye catches sight of an untouched bottle of wine just a few tables away. It's shoved into a generous bucket of ice, sitting in wait for whatever reservation was looking to celebrate that night. She doesn't know how long it's been sitting there and she doesn't exactly care either. So she gets up and strolls over to snatch the bottle, completely unbothered in doing so, and returns to her seat with the top already popped off.

She fills her glass and then does the same for Badou without asking because is there any reason to? They clearly both need it. ]

[well she's pissed, he's pissed, and they're about to get pissed-- so things can only go up from here. clearly.

he does not watch her ass as she goes to retrieve the wine, just waits in...wait, nose in the menu, a disgruntled look scrunching his face. the waiter is not being paid enough for whatever this is. they never are.

he clinks their glasses together. sighs]

To killing Gren?

[ She can drink to that. His toast even invites a slight smirk to curl on her face, though it quickly disappears behind the glass when she goes to take a drink.

Her green eyes dial in just long enough for him to notice before they dart off in a different direction. She's not sure what to say, set on keeping her mouth busy by continuously taking sips from her glass. But that won't suffice for long as she nears the bottom rather quickly.

In the moment it takes for her to grab the bottle once more and pour herself another, she decidedly speaks up. ]

Now that we've unveiled Gren's desire for a deathwish, what do you want to do? Continue with the date?

[ She doesn't like the idea of getting dressed up for nothing, so she anticipates his answer to lean in her favor. Yet in the same vein, she expects a wildly different response that involves him taking off. She's not even sure which she'd prefer more. ]

[feeling those green eyes on him and not in a glare-aspect is...it sends a shiver down his spine. and the hot trail of booze down his gullet doesn't distract much from that.

that sure is. a question. he'd....he's not sure. like he'd blabbed to Gren, he isn't sure if a date between them would work out, wouldn't be weird or horrible...and this is the chance to find out. so he's terrified, understandably. a coward for life.

he swallows hard.]

Well uh, what would you like to do?

[ Whether or not a date would work out between her and Badou wasn't so much a conversation topic as it was a fleeting thought thrown carelessly into an imaginary wind to be picked up and carried away. Because between their little bickering matches and rare moments of solidarity, Faye never alotted the time to view Badou as anything more than a friend. But as many other aspects in life, that was capable of changing.

Sitting back, hand still cradling her glass, she returns her gaze to the man before her and really soaks up what she's seeing. If she was asked whether or not the personality he invoked over texts was anything like what she was experiencing right now, she'd say this were two different people she was dealing with.

All the same, his weirdly calm demeanor clashes with hers and so she lays off a bit. ]

I don't know... we might as well see where the evening will take us, don't you think? [ A pause and then, ] Unless you're not feeling it.

[another one of those People Online Your Mom Warned You About moments, right here in the face. Catfishing just isn't the same anymore when you know each other.

Badou lets loose a breath he hadn't known he'd held, his mouth now quirking into the hint of a smile. his shoulders relax just a tic, too, a single notch as they unfold from around practically his ears.]

Yeah, I'm feeling it. That sounds good-- might as well get some food and drinks outta it, no shop talk. What a dream.

[ And for the first time, Faye appears to smile. The initial shock has virtually disappeared now that she's had a bit more drink in her, and it was evident that Badou had no reign over the situation. It's fine. Gren will get the backlash he rightfully deserves.

... unless, maybe, this blind date goes unexpectedly well. In that case, it won't be nearly as fatal for him. ]

Okay then. It's settled. We have our date and then plan Gren's demise. Sounds romantic, doesn't it?

[ Her smile breaks into a grin just moments before she grabs her menu and draws it up to take a look. The waiter is getting ready to head their way and she's not at all concerned about the bottle that's "mysteriously" been placed on their table (and that they've both been unreservedly drinking from). ]

What looks good to you?

[ The list of options were mainly pasta dishes but she's a woman who isn't afraid to eat a more hearty meal. ]

The best romantic comedy-- we'll make a fortune.

[seriously this could be a movie. an embarrassing one, but better than tucker must die.

he's started to relax a little more; the booze certainly helped, but the fact her anger isn't aimed at him is a relief. they can get out of this unscathed! it won't be so bad...might even be good. just have to not embarrass himself!

not to mention you can't get better than a meal like this. he takes a look at his menu too, glance flittering across the pages]

Wonder if steak can be trusted in a place like this...then again most things probably can or else these big wigs wouldn't come back, hey?

[he bites his lip as he mulls it over]

[ For just a moment, Faye will stop to watch him from behind her menu, curious to witness how his obvious restiveness might highlight his mannerisms. Not by much, as it seems to have receded a bit now that the worst of the situation has come and gone, hopefully, and yet it seems to linger in the way he bites his lip in thought. Cute. ]

What we don't know won't kill us, right? [ Or maybe it will and it puts them both out of their misery. ] My diet has desperately been lacking the protein, so that doesn't sound half-bad right now.

[ She's still weighing out other options and debating whether or not she should order more than one dish, because she is definitely not paying so why not milk this for what it's worth? Which has the potential of being more than Badou could afford since he's the one who will be paying, unbeknownst to him. Of course, Faye's always prepared, so in the likelihood that he's unable to pay, she's ready for the ol' dine and dash move. ]

But if you're that concerned about it, we can order a steak to share.

You mean you diet for a body like-- I mean I couldn't-- let's split a steak. Unless we fight for it.

[he knows he'd lose, for that matter, but his mouth twists into a sardonic little grin anyway. is he thrilled by the thought? not overtly so.

he is going to get pasta too, though, some creamy stuff to stick to his ribs. maybe a single veggie...veggies mean a mature man, don't they? also, joke's on her: the card that will be paying for this meal is not his. now would a mature man admit this to his 'date'?]

[ Faye catches that snide grin of his and returns it. ]

Sounds like my kind of foreplay.

[ She knew such a question might add some heat to his cheeks, and it dissolves her grin into a teasing smirk. He most certainly would lose. A body part? Maybe. But luckily for him, any trace of desire to maul anyone had been reserved for Gren. Though that feeling was beginning to dissipate the more they sat there and became comfortable -- alcohol being a wonderful assistance in that.

Soon enough the waiter approaches the table and takes their order: a steak to share, medium rare, and two creamy pasta dishes with a side of veggies. She also asks for another bottle of wine, to which the waiter will peer at her questionably, the confusion flickering behind his eyes on whether or not he had dropped one off to their table to begin with. But considering how sweetly Faye smiles at him, and how distracting her framed cleavage is, the need to ask is lost and he leaves the two of them be.

She returns her attention to her date, and her drink, and leans on the table. ]

So. Badou. Is this the first date you've had in a while?

[ Let us not forget how much of a bitch Faye can be. ]

[if she expected a blush-- she gets that and a scowl that absolutely twists into a bit of a deeper one at the mention of any previous dates. its a good thing she requested that wine because this is going to need a lot of it....

when he finally pulls his eye out of her cleavage, he huffs]

When's the last time you've been on one that's not for work? Being kidnapped doesn't count, either.

[ She expects exactly what he affords to her, both blush and scowl, and though, at first, her smirk broadens, revealing just how pleased she is with herself, no sooner will his countering remark be met with a glower of her own. ]

Oh, did I touch a tender spot there? [ Mock concern. She sips on her glass and then adds with a flat face: ] I asked you first.

[ She's also not totally avoiding the question. ]

You're completely avoiding your own embarrassment, aintcha?

[and now it's his turn to smirk. he swirls his drink like he's got this all in the bag, like he really has anything to brag about.]

I've been pretty busy with work. [admitting that much]

[ Faye glares daggers. Embarrassment. There was nothing to be embarrassed about. It wasn't as though she were actively searching anyway, although evidently Gren did his part in doing the searching for her.

She snatches up the bottle, pouring a plentiful amount into her glass that completely empties it. Guess you'll just have to wait until the other shows up for a refill, Badou, sorry. ]

But not busy enough that you couldn't attend our little date, huh? Don't I feel special.

[ A bit sarcastic because she didn't appreciate that kidnapping remark!! But she leans back in her seat, seemingly calm, crossing one arm while cradling her glass against her bosom. She's been busy too, if that's what they're both going to go with. Not that it's very truthful in her case. ]

I just haven't been interested in dating anyone. Is that a satisfying enough answer for you?

I don't know-- does it satisfy you?

[an honest question for what's not the most honest answer. but this date isn't some get to know you heart to heart bullshit. though he wouldn't mind looking into the mysterious bounty hunter's mind--

he doesn't exactly want someone looking back at him either. and that server could come with the booze any time now. he taps his fingers impatiently on the table as he waits]

You wanna know what truly satisfies me?

[ She leans forward slowly, her upper half extending just a few inches over the table, as though she were about to express some kind of secret, granting another wondrous opportunity for him to lose his eye in her cleavage. ]

When idiots mind their damn business.

[ This wasn't some get to you know heart to heart bullshit, after all. Right? Oh, and would you look at that, the waiter just so happens to show up with the bottle, just in time. And she just smiles, all lovely-like, acting as though she wasn't just moments before about to slice Badou up with her stare. ]
